Don’t just take our word for it. Here is what our guests have to say about their journey with us.

"The most authentic experience of our lives. This is NOT a tourist trap. This is the real Sahara, with real nomads. Brahim and his team are from M'hamid and their connection to the desert is profound. The Erg Chigaga camp was pure luxury, the food was incredible, and the silence under the stars... magical. Worth every penny."

I did the 3-day Nomad Immersion as a solo traveler and was humbled by the experience. The family I stayed with was so welcoming. I helped make bread, listened to their music, and learned more about a way of life I never knew existed. My guide, Hassan, was professional, kind, and a great translator. This trip changed my perspective. Thank you, Amazing Sahara."

"We booked a 4-day trip from Marrakech with the 4x4 and camel trek combo. The organization was flawless. Our driver was safe and knowledgeable, and the luxury camp at Erg Chigaga was better than many 5-star hotels. This is the *only* way to see the Sahara. Forget Merzouga—M'hamid and Erg Chigaga are the real deal."

"I organized a private yoga and meditation retreat for 8 people. Brahim handled everything perfectly. The location was beyond belief—we did sunrise yoga on a dune with no one else for miles. The food was healthy and delicious, and the atmosphere was one of pure peace. We are already planning our return."

Your Questions, Answered

Essential information for planning your journey to the heart of the Sahara.

11

01. What is the best time of year to visit M'hamid?
The ideal seasons are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November), when the daytime temperatures are pleasant and the nights are comfortable. Winter (December to February) is also beautiful, with crisp, sunny days, though nights can be very cold. We generally advise against travel in the peak summer months (July and August) due to the extreme heat.
02. How do I get to M'hamid El Ghizlan?
The most common route is to fly into Marrakech (RAK) or Ouarzazate (OZZ). From there, it is a stunning scenic drive. We highly recommend our private, air-conditioned 4x4 transfer service. We will greet you at the airport and make the journey part of the adventure, stopping at key sights like Aït Benhaddou.
03. What is the difference between Erg Chigaga (M'hamid) and Erg Chebbi (Merzouga)?
Lighting is one of the most important elements in both photography and video. I assess each location beforehand to determine the natural light available and then decide whether to use reflectors.
04. What should I pack?
Think layers. You will want light, loose-fitting clothing (linens, cottons) for the day, plus sun protection (hat, sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen). For the evenings, pack warm items (fleeces, jackets, beanies) as the desert gets surprisingly cold at night. Closed-toe shoes, a reusable water bottle, a portable charger, and a sense of wonder are essential.
05. What are the luxury camp facilities like?
Our camps redefine "camping." Expect a private, spacious tent with a real king-sized bed, high-quality linens, and an en-suite private bathroom featuring a hot-water shower and a flushing toilet. It is a hotel-level comfort in the middle of the dunes, complete with solar-powered electricity for lighting and charging.
06. Is this trip safe? I am a solo female traveler.
Yes, your safety and comfort are our absolute priorities. We have hosted many solo travelers, including women. Our guides are professional, respectful, and trained in first aid. You will be in the care of our trusted "desert family" from the moment you arrive.
07. Are the tours suitable for families with children?
Absolutely. A Sahara adventure is a magical experience for children. We can fully customize the pace, shortening camel rides and including activities like sandboarding, fossil hunting, and learning about the nomadic way of life.
08. Alcohol ?
It can be purchased in the Marrakesh airport and shops throughout Marrakesh. In fact, the recently opened Carrefour (large European chain supermarket) in Ouarzazate offers alcohol for sale. Alcohol is usually offered in hotels and riads in bigger cities and in some guesthouses in smaller towns. Our camps are always equipped with a steady supply of alcohol for your enjoyment!
